ml1.org.uk | Implementation on Olivetti L1 |
Overview
NotesThis was the first ML/I implementation which was performed using the C-map. The Olivetti L1 ran an emulation of UNIX 4.1BSD, and was unusual in that it had 16 bit integers and 32 bit pointers. Since ML/I used pointers and integers interchangeably in places, there were quite a few problems; however, these served to strengthen the eventual portability of the C-map. The C-map was necessary because the L1's emulated UNIX had no accessible assembler program. Available filesThis section includes not only program files, but also supporting files such as test suites, etc. File formatEach file, or group of files, is available as a ZIP file (.ZIP). This can be unpacked using the ZIP utility, which is freely available from http://www.info-zip.org. Clicking on the 'Zip' graphic at the end of this section will take you straight to the main UnZip page. File downloads
Available user documentationDocumentation formatEach document is available in Portable Document Format (PDF). This can be viewed on most systems using appropriate software such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is freely available from http://www.adobe.com. Clicking on the 'Get Adobe Reader' graphic at the end of this page will take you straight to the main Adobe Acrobat Reader page. As an alternative, each document is also available in HTML, as a single file. This can of course be viewed with any browser, although the output is not as pleasing as the PDF version.
